SAE 1050 Steel
  Steel name: SAE 1050
  Diagram No.: 2872
  Type of diagram: TTE
  SAE designation: 1050
  Chemical composition in weight %: 0.46% C, 0.75% Mn, 0.02% P, 0.034% S,
  0.03% Ni, 0.12% Cr.
Note: Embrittlement diagram. Temper embrittlement. Treatment: Specimens hardened
by heating to 830oC (1525oF) for 30 min and brine quenching. Prior to isothermal
embrittlement treatment, all specimens were tempered by induction heating to 650oC
(1200oF) for 5 s. Curves are based on transition temperature determined by 50% fibrous
fracture. Figures beside points represent the increase in transition temperatures in
degrees Fahreinheit from the unembrittled condition.
