Chemical composition in weight %: 0.15% C, 0.50% Mn, 0.18% Si, 0.018% P, 0.012% S,
0.165% Ni, 2.12% Cr, 0.94% Mo, 0.077% Cu 0.009% Sn.
Note: Precipitation diagram. Precipitation during aging (tempering). Austenitizing
temperature: 960
oC (1760
oF) for 2 h. Diagram showing the sequence of carbide
formation on tempering the quenched steel. Treatmnet: After austenitizing, half the
specimens were cooled at 300
oC (570
oF) per hour to room temperature, and the
remainder were quenched in oil. Tempering treatments were carried out in a lead bath
at 400, 500 and 600
oC (740, 930 and 1110
oF) and in an electric air furnace at 650,
700 and 750
oC (1220, 1290 and 1380
oF).
